William C. King


William is a 1992 Graduate of South Hagerstown High School and attended Frederick Community College where he took several Emergency Medical Courses.  He also attended multiple off site classes hosted by Washington County taught through the Maryland Fire & Rescue Institute who is associated with The University Of Maryland.  William has been serving here at Smithsburg EMS as a volunteer now since 2011. William has over 25 years of experience in Emergency Services in Washington County starting out in the Explorer Programs offered by First Hagerstown Hose Company and Community Rescue Service. He is one of our cross trained providers certified as a Firefighter II since 1990 and an Emergency Medical Technician since 1991.

William serves Washington County not only with us here in Smithsburg, but also volunteers with The First Hose Company in the City of Hagerstown where he has been a member for over 23 years serving the department as a firefighter, Lieutenant and as Captain during his years of service there. He is also the chief at Washington County Emergency Rehab Unit 255 where he has been a member for over 10 years located out on York Road in Halfway, MD. He has served as a Rehab Technician,  Assistant Chief and Deputy Chief during his years of service with Unit 255. When he isn’t volunteering his time, he still serves our community as an Emergency Communications Specialist at the Washington County Emergency Communications Center (911 Dispatch) where he has been employed for over 15 years. William has dedicated his life to Emergency Services in Washington County and now continues to serve us here at Smithsburg Emergency Medical Services.
