As Lieutenant at SEMS, Jamie brings over 15 years of experience in the emergency services industry to include several years as line officer at the Middletown Volunteer Fire Department. Recently moving to Washington County, Jamie joined SEMS as a way to continue to serve his community by utilizing his accumulated skills and ambitions. Along with volunteering at SEMS, he is also still very active as an Advanced Technical Rescue Specialist with the Frederick County Advanced Technical Rescue Team. Jamie is responsible for the safe mitigation of hazards in emergency situations that often require critical thinking and technical specialties including swift water, trench, structural collapse, ice, and technical ropes rescue. Jamie is also an active member with the Maryland State Police H.E.A.T. Team. The H.E.A.T. (Helicopter Emergency Aerial Tactical) Team is a team of highly trained members of fire and ems related organizations that work side by side with the MSP, police agencies, and the US Coast Guard to search and rescue individuals involved in emergency incidents that require remote access to wilderness or water. These situations require team members to be lowered, via helicopter, into remote mountainous areas to perform rescues of victims where travel by other means is impossible. He can also be called in to perform swift water rescues in this area’s surrounding rivers and water bodies. Jamie works as a Senior Software Engineer for American Military University. He is currently in charge of maintaining our network infrastructure and station alerting system at SEMS and is often called upon to perform electronics maintenance on our fleet.
